- Freight forwarding – Freightlink Reload provides first class freight forwarding services throughout Europe by integrating with Freightlink’s freight ferry customers we can offer unrivalled access to hauliers throughout Europe.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone to deliver high-quality support across customs operations and customer service, ensuring that CustomsLink customers receive expert guidance in all customs activities. The role plays a key part in maintaining strong relationships with xisting clients while actively building trust and promoting effective partnerships with new customers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Support
- Provide guidance to the team on customs-related requirements, including documentation, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Deliver training sessions to staff on general customs processes, ensuring consistent understanding across the team.
- Communicate with customers, offering expert support on customs queries and troubleshooting issues.
- Liaise directly with customers to resolve customs-related queries within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Conduct audits of completed customs entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with HMRC standards.
Customs Clearance Operations
- Prepare and submit customs declarations for our managed service covering imports and exports across multiple jurisdictions.
- Check and validate customs declarations submitted via our digital solutions.
- Generate and validate EUR1 movement certificates and Certificates of Origin for qualifying exports.
- Process Transit Accompanying Declarations, C21s, ATA Carnets, and IPAFFS/TRACES.
- Apply knowledge of special customs procedures such as Returned Goods Relief (RGR) and Outward Processing (OPR).
- Accurately calculate duties and VAT for GB declarations, ensuring correct tariff application.
- Submit declarations using in-house software and external platforms (CargoWise, Descartes Thyme, AEB), resolving system errors and ensuring data integrity.
- Maintain accurate job files and data in the customs management system.
- Use MCP Destin8 and CNS to manage inventory linked shipments.
Account Management & Stakeholder Liaison
- Ensure clients receive timely updates on customs procedures, regulatory changes, and shipment statuses.
- Maintain and update customer-specific reference logs and documentation.
- Liaise with HMRC, port authorities and partners.
Technical & Process Development
- Draft and support the creation of Statements of Work (SOWs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with software development team on system integrations, platform testing, and system enhancements.
- Participate in the on-call support rota.
Compliance & Continuous Learning
- Keep up to date with changes in customs regulations, border requirements, and HMRC updates.
- Continuously expand knowledge of customs procedures through self learning, training, research, and professional development.
Competencies & Experience
- Proven experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or international trade operations.
- Strong understanding and hands on experience of UK and EU customs requirements, including import/export procedures, tariff classification, and duty/VAT calculations.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communicator able to deliver training, provide client support, and resolve escalated queries.
- Qualifications in International Trade, Customs, or Logistics (e.g., CILT, Institute of Export & International Trade, UK Customs Academy or BIFA) are desirable but not essential.
