Customs red tape doesn’t have to get in the way of your business.
Depending on the country you are importing the products into, the precise import and export documentation you must submit when transporting between the EU and GB will vary.
In this series, we’re going to break down the basics and discuss what you’ll need to meet your customs obligations (depending on the country you are transporting from/to).
First, we’re focusing on the Republic of Ireland (ROI). Are you transporting goods between ROI and GB?
Here’s what you’ll need.
Exporting from GB to ROI
Securing cost-effective transport for your goods is only the first step of transporting them between Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Once this has been organised, you will need to provide:
- An export declaration (exporting from GB),
- Import declaration (importing into ROI),
- & ENS
Importing into GB from ROI
If you are exporting your goods out of the Republic of Ireland and importing them into Great Britain, the exact customs documents you will need will be slightly different.
When importing into GB, you won’t need to provide an ENS.
Instead, you will only need:
- An export declaration (for exporting from ROI),
- Import declaration (for importing into GB),
- & PBN
While businesses importing into GB from ROI will benefit from needing to provide slightly less documentation, there is still a lot of work required to meet these customs obligations.
