Autumn leaves

October and November have been busy months for customs clearance. Lets take a look at all of the key things that have happened.

EXS FOR A FIVER

October saw the introduction of changes to Exit Summary Declarations. These declarations are now a necessary part of your transport between Great Britain and EU member states if you are transporting any of the following

  • an empty pallet, container or vehicle is being moved under a transport contract, including empty reusable packaging such as stillages and roll-cages
  • goods have remained in temporary storage for more than 14 days
  • goods have remained in temporary storage for less than 14 days, but the import safety and security declaration details are unknown, or the destination or consignee has changed
  • goods are moved under transit using either a transit accompanying document (TAD), a transit security accompanying document (TSAD) or a transport internationaux routiers (TIR) Carnet document

Whilst these declarations may seem like another hassle, CustomsLink continues to offer a helping hand with EXS's for just £5! This has proved to be a life saver for a lot of our customers and definitely something you should check out to save yourself from additional hassle.

WEBINAR

We recently hosted a webinar telling you about our solution to trade between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. We wanted to let you know that our system is capable of giving you a better experience in a simpler way, enabling you to get your customs processes completed with ease.

Alex McDonald was our knowledgeable host and gave a demonstration of how the CustomsLink platform works for both classic and our self-service customers. He also gave an insight into exactly how we are able to help you with trade between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

If you missed our webinar, you can still watch the full recording on YouTube.

PREPARATION FOR NEW GB BORDER CONTROLS

October marked the start of all of the impending customs changes with the new EXS requirements, but the changes don't stop there. In January you will see new changes happening within the sanitary and phytosanitary sector with changes set to affect POAO (Products Of Animal Origin) and HRFNAO (High-Risk Food or Feed Not of Animal Origin) that will require them to use IPAFFS from January 2022.

From January 2022, full EU-GB customs declarations and therefore GMR requirements will also be needed for all goods at the time of import. No GMR, no crossing.

Learn more about January changes to customs declarations and sanitary and phytosanitary goods, and how we can help.
