Export Accompanying Document

There are a lot of new customs processes to remember when you are transporting goods between the UK and the EU. We want to make sure that you don’t get caught in the technicalities and slip up.

Our banana peel series is dedicated to helping you know what things you need to watch out for so that your customs documentation is perfect. Our ninth banana peel is Export Accompanying Documents.

Transit Declarations

You will fill out a transit declaration if your goods are moving through multiple customs territories. This can cause quite a bit of confusion as some declarations have appeared at the port without all of the correct information listed.

Export Accompanying Document

One common mistake with transit declarations is your Export Accompanying Document. Quite a lot of traders have been using the MRN (Movement Reference Number) generated from their Export Accompanying Document submission. This is incorrect and could prevent your goods from being allowed entry into the EU. You need to use the MRN on your Transit Accompanying Document GVMS submission.

What Happens if I Get This Wrong?

If you don’t submit the correct information on your customs documentation it is likely that you could face huge delays at the port and may even face a fine. Avoiding mistakes on your customs documents will allow you to keep moving and complete your journey successfully.

We want to make sure that trade continues to move as smoothly as possible. Make sure you check out all of our other articles on our blog in order to ensure that you are able to conduct business as seamlessly as possible!
