How does pre– lodgement work?
Pre-lodgement works by ensuring that the export and import paperwork are BOTH completed before the vehicle checks in at the port of departure (unless it is a transit movement).
This is very different from the temporary storage model where containers can be shipped and even landed before they are customs cleared. The reason RoRo ports have opted for pre-lodgement is because of the volumes of traffic they ship, the lack of space in ferry terminals, and the need to turn vessels around quickly.
CustomsLink can assist you with meeting pre-lodgement requirements.
I ship groupage, how does CustomsLink handle this?
CustomsLink is the best solution for groupage operators. Our Portpass builder automatically groups all the consignments which you are shipping in the same vehicle, so that you can easily request your Portpass and the haulier can make his journey with no disruption.
Can I be a trader for multiple hauliers on one account?
Yes. As long as you have been invited and signed your LOA to each haulier in the “my haulier” tab, you can have multiple hauliers.
Can I use your system just to submit ENS entries to EU ICS systems?
No, but we can do it for you. Please contact the team for more information.
Do I need any specialist training or knowledge to use your system?
You will need to know your own commodity codes, CPC codes, and your products. Everything else is easy and user-friendly.
Do I need to have a Port Pass (GMR, PBN, Logistic Envelope, Portbase)?
Different countries have different port pass systems. Read our Port Passes for GB ⇄ EU Imports & Exports guide for more information.
Do you provide me with a badge number for Chief?
The software uses CustomsLink’s port badges, so there is no need for you to get your own.
